Play Games for Successful Retail Experience Marketing

Experience marketing in a retail environment is relatively easy because you get to stage any activity your way, then have fun with it. It’s what Experience Marketing is all about, creating and “selling” experiences, not just products or services. You will start by adding decorations and activities that engage people, make them laugh, sing, play or even seriously think about.

First things first - chose a theme and stick to it. Think about what your customers might think is fun, elegant, or wacky. Now add visuals, sounds, temperature, and tastes that stimulate the senses and relate to your theme. Finish with funpromotional activities using targeted, strategic use of sensory stimulation.

There are countless event marketing themes* so focus on one target market to bring you the best, measurable results. Think about the people you would like to attract or try one of the easiest and set the theme for specific age bracket.

For kids’ activities, posters cheaply set the scene and environmentally friendly balloons that don’t float away are a draw for both kids and eco-conscious parents. Always add face-painting or a similar activity for family events.

For teens, project movie trailers, fun YouTube videos, or share inside secrets of musicians or sports stars.

For seniors, show enticing travel programs, host lecturers, play classic rock or Sinatra, or provide a reason for them to include their grandchildren. Focus on a “zero waste” event because seniors care about their legacy and be socially conscious to boot.

ACTIVITIES - No matter the age, playing games is a terrific way to engage customers with fun, easy to win and hilarious to lose, “big kid” activities like ring toss or hopscotch, adapted to your product or service. Ask for emails or social media contacts to keep in touch. By having fun, people won’t mind your messaging later, they might even look forward to it!
