Key to Successful Holiday Shared Promotions
Division Clinton's 2015 Holiday Happenings shared promotion's key to success was in securing a partner with a major print publication. The Portland Tribune came on board as partner, sponsoring a portion of the advertising costs and more importantly, helping to get businesses to participate.A Survey Monkey was sent 3 months in advance, asking members if they wanted to participate in shared promotions. This generated a list of interested business owners.The Portland Tribune's fabulous ad. representative then took the time to visit with all retail-oriented stores on Division and Clinton Streets. She was able to offer a big discount to potential advertisers thanks to a matching grant supplied by Venture Portland. Placement on the ad was limited to retail stores who invited shoppers into their stores with open houses, discounts, special holiday items or gift certificates.
