Imelda's Shoes and Louie's Shoes for Men take advantage of regular annual holiday promotions: why not Tax Day! In the U.S., everyone has to pay taxes, or at least pay attention so as not to pay taxes. Why not take advantage of this unwelcome annual event and offer a considerable discount or promotion? I spent a little time at Imelda's on Tax Day, April 15, and discovered some secrets to this deceptively simple promotion .Like every promotion Imelda's does, they create a Facebook event page. Pretty easy to put together for these online marketers, they know how to use color to make their page "POP" and stimulate interest. The page is linked to their website, Shop Imelda's. Next the staff at Imelda's creates a printed flyer to post in both their locations on 1416 NE Alberta Street and 3426 SE Hawthorne in Portland, OR.  Note consistent colors and products build brand recognition.   Similar colors and sign design are found on sidewalk A-Boards or sandwich signs. Imelda's and Louie's locations areon busy pedestrian friendly thoroughfares. The addition of a blade sign, attached perpendicular to their storefront allows faster moving vehicle traffic to quickly spy front doors. The sandwich board stops walkers in their tracks, It's just as important to add names to front door and/or windows for browsers. Imelda's sales crew understands shoppers looking for a deal. If we come in with discount on our lips, they know to direct us where sale items can easily be found. They know not to treat us any differently and to provide attention as desired.They know how to close a sale too!I not only spent time but money too, finding a great pair of slip on summer sandals.
