3 Bills up for Oregon Leg that effect bars & restaurants who have exterior spaces

House Bill 3256 Good Neighbor Agreements
A public hearing in Salem, OR has been scheduled for HB 3256 (attached) on Wednesday, March 20 at 8:00am. If you, any of your neighbors or colleagues would like to help move this bill forward by either showing up in support or testifying in favor of the bill (there’s a 3-minute time limit), please let Rep. Frederick’s Legislative Assistant, Sue Hagmeier, (503-986-1443) know as soon as possible.
 
 
House Bill 2008
HB 2008 is scheduled for a hearing in the Business and Labor Committee at the Capitol Building on March 20, 2013 at 8am. Representative Doherty is the chair. This bill would :
 
  • Allow police to order a 72 hour closure at a location where a murder or rape has occurred
  • Allows OLCC to place restrictions on licensees with persistent problems
  • Designates a seat on the Commission for someone with a background in Public Safety. Currently, only industry has a designated seat.
 
 
House Bill 2007
The City of Portland supports House Bill 2007, that limits the revenue a single establishment may have from only lottery receipts, and provides a definition for what constitutes a “Casino”. Please see the attached.  This Bill is scheduled for a hearing March 20th, 2013 at 8am in the Business and Labor Committee at the State Capitol.
 
 

New Rules for Bar & Restaurant exterior licenses

 Rulemaking for Exterior Areas at licensed establishments
The Oregon Liquor Control Commission has been engaged in Rulemaking for Exterior Areas at licensed establishments. The rules redefine the requirements for licensing exterior areas that are connected to a brick and mortar pub, as well as create rules for exterior areas that are not associated with a brick and mortar location i.e.: Food Carts.
